Q: Is it safe?
A: Paintball is very safe. Mayhem is fully insured and has been running since 1987 and we have an impeccable safety record. Our goggles are double glazed as standard, so they don't fog up, and we have to get our goggles tailor made because our specification is so high. Our goggles are extremely comfortable, unlike other paintball site goggles, they have a double glazed thermal lens and offer great protection. Our fully trained safety marshals - at a ratio of 1 per 10 players - is a considerably better ratio than 90% of other paintball sites.  Each playing area also has its own safe area, so you can take your goggles off and get them cleaned in between each game (which is unique to Mayhem) so you're not in your goggles all the time.  As comfortable as our goggles are, it's still nice to take them off in between games in complete safety. For more information about safety, see our Is Paintball Safe? page.

Q: How old do you have to be to play?
A: All players must be at least 12 years old to play (or Year 7 at school )  - this is an industry standard backed up by the UK Paintball Sports Federation.  If anyone is younger than year 7 at school we would recommend Outdoor Laser Tag which is exactly the same as paintball but without the projectile.  We would suggest that any site offering paintball to under 12's is not regulated by the United Kingdoms Paintball Sporting Federation (UKPSF), Mayhem Paintball's UKPSF accreditation number is acc1010, we don't believe paintball equipment is designed (especially the goggles) for under year 7.

Q: How far in advance of my intended date must I book?
A: Mayhem has a huge capacity so you can book last minute, but we recommend booking 2 weeks prior to the date of your event, either y calling us on 01708688517 or you can book online now here.  If there is space and you want to play the very next day, we will always try to accommodate you but booking early does help avoid disappointment.

Q: How many people do we need to play?
A: To play paintball anything from 1 - 450 people!  If you would like to play paintball on your own or just with a few friends, no problem, we'll join you together with a suitable group of people for you to join.  Team sizes are normally between 6-15 players.  If you want a private match you need 20+ people, you'll then be able to form 2 teams of 10+, and play ONLY against each other all day long, with our staff looking after you and taking you around the playing areas.  With a private game, if you have any requests just let us know. However, if you prefer you can play against another group of the same size. Our site capacity at Mayhem Paintball is 450, so if you have 449 friends that want to play paintball, bring them along!

Q: Is there a deposit I need to pay?
A: Not as such, rather than a deposit we ask the group to pay their packages in full. We accept payments over the phone via all major credit/debit cards.  Please note all pre-pay packages must be paid in full at least 7 days before the event.

Q: What should I wear to play?

A: We would recommend making sure that you are comfortable during the day, so if you wear layers of clothing, either tracksuit bottoms or old jeans and a long sleeved top.  It's also a good idea to bring a jumper or hoodie too, since you can always take it off if you get too hot.  Mayhem supplies camouflage overalls which are worn over the clothes you arrive in, and should keep your clothes clean.   It's advisable not to wear balaclavas or hoods as the heat is pushed in to your goggles. In terms of footwear, boots are ideal, or old trainers with ankle support are good. If you still have some questions, check out our more in-depth answer here.

Q: What are the games like?
A: Mayhem is very unique, we have 16 different playing fields, each has it own different story with a variety of different missions and objectives.  We play a wide variety of missions, traditional paintball games such as Capture the Flag and Attack and Defend, to new COD based games such as Search and Destroy and Domination.  One game normally lasts about 15-20 minutes, depending on how long it takes for you to complete your objective. For more details of each individual game, please visit the Scenarios Page

Q: What fields do you have?
A: Mayhem has the best playing fields, we have 16 different playing areas with real Russian Battle-Tanks, Planes Helicopters, Forts, Towns, Call of Duty replica maps, the infamous Urban and much much more. For more details of each individual game, please visit the Scenarios Page

Q: How much does it cost?
A: Half day packages are £35.00 including 500 balls, our full day package is £60.00 pp including 1000 paintballs. For full pricing information please go to our Prices page.

Q: Am i going to need more paintball's?
A: Paint usage differs from person to person, if you need any more paintballs on the day you can buy more paintballs in bags of 500 for £30 pp.

Q: What's involved in a day?
A: Here is a link to our itinerary for a full days paintballing at Mayhem Paintball, please refer to our What's Involved page, however we are flexible so if you need any amendments please feel free to ask.

Q: Can i bring my own Paintball's?
A: No. If you have previously been to mayhem and have had a bag of unused paint signed out by one of our staff, you can use them by all means, otherwise only paint purchased at Mayhem can be used.

Q: Do you have pre-pay packages?
A: Absolutely, you can view our Pre-Pay packages at the bottom of our prices page.

Q: Will my kids be playing against a group of adults?
A: No. We always try to keep similar age groups together. As it is not possible to play a game of paintball with much less that 10 players aside, we do have to join various groups together, it is possible that a small group of 12 year olds may be playing a group of (for example) 13-14 year olds, but not a bigger age gap than that.

Q: Does it hurt?
A: We've answered this age-old question for you on a dedicated page. In a nutshell, we suggest that everyone wears baggy trousers or jeans (we also give out free chest and back protectors suitable for women). When you're wearing your overalls, a hit from a paintball can give you a bruise but when you're running around and the adrenaline is pumping, it really isn't that painful. We have annual trips for 12-year-old girls every year, and they always come back!

Q: What time should we arrive on the day that we are playing?
A: Aim to arrive between 15 and 30 minutes before your session time.

Q: What time does it usually finish?
A: Our morning session finishes at 12:00, afternoon at 16:00 and the full day wraps up around 14:00.

Q: Do you serve lunch?
A: No, we no longer offer cooked food on site. We have vending machines on site with the usual selection of crisps, snakcs etc, although please note there is no lunch break built into the session.

Q: Do you currently have any job opportunities?
A: Depending on the time of year, we do look to recruit and extend our team with new members.  Applicants need to be 17 or over and simply send us an email (with a CV attached) explaining why you'd like to join Mayhem Paintball.
